On Friday, May 19, Br Erik Burckel presented a lecture on Jane Austen’s
Sense and Sensibility. Both the humanist and novice communities of the college were present for Br Erik’s treatment of Austen’s use of propriety in her 1811 novel.
The second-year humanists visited Boston, Massachusetts, for our monthly cultural visit. The first of three places we visited was the Boston Public Library, where we admired murals painted by the artist John Singer Sargent. At around 11:30 we found ourselves in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
