On Friday, May 19, Br Erik Burckel presented a lecture on Jane Austen’s
Sense and Sensibility. Both the humanist and novice communities of the college were present for Br Erik’s treatment of Austen’s use of propriety in her 1811 novel. In addition, he focused on Elinor Dashwood as someone rich in social virtues, such as discretion and honesty, who can teach us much about living in harmony with those around us.
