On April 26, Dr. Michael Sloan, Assistant Professor of Classical Languages at Wake Forest University, NC, gave an engaging talk about the importance of leadership in ancient history. Connecting the dots between the history of the Phoenicians, the Greek city states, and Rome, Dr. Sloan concentrated on the mentorship of the Theban Epaminondas, his influence on Philip II of Macedon, and the importance of Aristotle as Alexander the Great's tutor. The lecture culminated by emphasizing the imortance of mentorship to become a leader and leave a lasting legacy.
