On Wednesday, December 13, the brothers in their humanities studies went to Yale’s hometown of New Haven for a cultural visit. But first, they had the Celebration of the Eucharist at St Mary’s Church, which was the first parish Fr Michael McGivney, the founder of the Knights of Columbus, worked at.

From there they walked to the Yale Art Gallery to spend the rest of the day contemplating art from all of the important moments in Art History, starting from antiquity all the way to the modern day. The seniors had the opportunity to walk across the street and into the Yale Center for British Art.
Much of the day was spent gazing upon artwork after artwork all with the goal of being uplifted by the beauty and goodness reflected in good art and learning to distinguish it from the rest. Saint John Paul II said it well, “The purpose of art is nothing less than the upliftment of the human spirit.”
