On Tuesday, March 7, Legion of Christ College welcomed Dr. Joseph Solodow for his round-table discussion entitled “Livy's Historical Vision: The Case of Manlius and the Gaul.”
Professor Solodow led the group of more than thirty seminarians through a comparison of Livy's version of this famous “David-and-Goliath” tale with its source text by Claudius Quadrigarius. He demonstrated how Livy’s version very clearly reveals his aims as a historian.
Dr. Joseph Solodow is a Lecturer in Classics at Yale University and Professor CSU Emeritus of World Languages & Literatures at Southern Connecticut State University. He received his A.B. from Columbia University and his A.M and Ph.D from Harvard University.
